Making Whole Class Instruction as Powerful as One-on-One Instruction

Presented by Jason Willoughby, Director of Action Learning Systems, and Robert Crowe, Vice President of Action Learning Systems
Sponsored by Action Learning Systems

View the webinar "Making Whole Class Instruction as Powerful as One-on-One Instruction"

In the emerging era of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), experts agree that the most significant change required in our schools will be at the instructional level.  Simply changing the criteria and the curriculum will not propel American education into elite status. At the heart of the matter is instruction and how teachers maximize their use of Academic Learning Time. In this webinar, Jason Willoughby and Robert Crowe, instructional experts from Action Learning Systems, discuss how teachers can take the available hours they have for instruction and allocate their time in a way that maximizes student engagement on all levels and creates the greatest opportunity for student success.  You will gain a better understanding of how to incorporate CCSS and measureable objectives into daily instruction, experience a concise model for lesson structure and sequence, identify explicit opportunities for student interaction, and discuss the non-negotiables for proactive classroom management.

This is even more true for students with autism as they often do not see the purpose of what they are being taught. Eden Autism Services Michelle Brooks shows educators of students with autism ways to figure out what is reinforcing for each of their students along with recommended techniques to use that reinforcement to enhance their learning. She also highlights the basic principles of reinforcement as well as how to implement these principles utilizing token systems and schedules of reinforcement.
